Overview

Mindustry is developed by Anuken, and its full source code is public on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. You mine ore with drills, carry it on conveyors into factories, and use what they make to build turrets and units that defend your core against waves of enemies. The campaign spans two planets with separate tech trees.

Serpulo

The original planet. Copper, lead, sand, coal, titanium and thorium feed a long chain up to plastanium, phase fabric and surge alloy.

Erekir

The second planet. Beryllium and tungsten replace copper and lead, several factories need heat from separate heater blocks, and gases like ozone and hydrogen come into play.

Ratios

Every factory runs on a fixed cycle, so a factory line only runs at full speed when the numbers of each building are in the right ratio. That's what the calculator works out.

Production Ratios Worth Memorizing

Per building, at full speed, with no boosts:

  • Silicon: one Silicon Smelter uses 1.5 coal/s and 3 sand/s (plus 30 power/s) for 1.5 silicon/s. If you make sand from scrap, that's exactly 2 Pulverizers per smelter.
  • Graphite: a Graphite Press turns 1.33 coal/s into 0.67 graphite/s with no power. One Multi-Press (6 coal/s + 6 water/s, 108 power/s) makes 4 graphite/s — the output of 6 presses.
  • Metaglass: a Kiln takes 2 lead/s and 2 sand/s for 2 metaglass/s.
  • Plastanium: a Plastanium Compressor needs 2 titanium/s and 15 oil/s for 1 plastanium/s. One Spore Press (18 oil/s) covers it, and that press needs 5 Cultivators feeding it spore pods.
  • Surge alloy: a Surge Smelter eats 2.4 copper, 3.2 lead, 1.6 titanium and 2.4 silicon per second for 0.8 surge alloy/s — its silicon alone takes 1.6 Silicon Smelters.
