Construction: Build Time Lookup & Recipes

The construction timer tells you what you're getting before it finishes. Type the timer to see which ships it can be, then use the standard recipes to aim for battleships, carriers or rare destroyers.

Build time lookup

Type the timer shown in the dock — 1:25, 01:25:00 or 85 all work — or search for a ship by name.

Standard construction recipes

These are the recipes Japanese players have reported the most results for. The rates are self-reported and lean toward lucky results, so take them as rough guides rather than guarantees. The construction pool can also change without a maintenance.

Aim forFuel / Ammo / Steel / BauxiteWhat to expect
Destroyers / light cruisers30/30/30/30Minimum recipe. Mostly destroyers and light cruisers — never rare destroyers, rare light cruisers or submarines.
Rare destroyers, light & heavy cruisers250/30/200/30Mostly light and heavy cruisers, with a small chance of rare destroyers, rare light cruisers and submarines. Shimakaze + Yukikaze reported at about 5% combined.
Rare destroyers, light & heavy cruisers270/130/330/30A few more heavy cruisers than the recipe above. Shimakaze + Yukikaze reported at about 7% combined; submarines also appear.
Battleships400/30/600/30The basic battleship recipe: mostly heavy cruisers and battleships, occasionally light cruisers. Both Nagato and Mutsu can appear; Suzuya and Kumano have been reported.
Battleships400/100/600/30Same profile as 400/30/600/30.
Battleships520/130/680/40Battleship rate of 37% across 200 reported builds — the best-documented battleship recipe.
Carriers300/30/400/300Cheapest carrier recipe; about 10% standard carriers reported.
Carriers300/30/600/400About 14.3% standard carriers reported.
Carriers400/200/500/400About 18.0% standard carriers over 6,055 reported builds — by far the largest sample.
Carriers300/300/600/600About 18.6% standard carriers reported.
Submarines250/130/200/30About 5% submarines; Shimakaze and Yukikaze are also reported.

Large Ship Construction

Large Ship Construction (大型艦建造) unlocks through a quest once you're running a third fleet. It's the only way to build Yamato, Musashi, Taihou and most foreign ships, but it's expensive and very random.

  • Each resource takes 1,500 / 1,500 / 2,000 / 1,000 at minimum (fuel / ammo / steel / bauxite) and up to 7,000. You also choose 1, 20 or 100 Development Materials; more is officially said to help with rarer ships.
  • Skipping the timer costs 10 Instant Construction.
  • Leaving your other docks empty is officially said to help a little, but players haven't been able to measure any difference.
  • Foreign ships need the secretary shown in the build-time table above — for example Bismarck only appears with Z1 or Z3 as secretary.

* With Z1 or Z3 as secretary. ** With Pola or Libeccio as secretary. Figures are the share of each ship among results posted to the Japanese wiki, mostly with 20 Development Materials. People post lucky results more often, so real rates are lower, and most of this data predates the ships added in 2025–2026.

Don't buy resources for this. A single max-resource build bought entirely with real money would cost about ¥17,300, for one random result. Treat Large Ship Construction as a place to spend resources you have no other use for.

How construction works

  • Each resource can be set from 30 to 999, in the order Fuel / Ammo / Steel / Bauxite. Every build also uses one Development Material.
  • Construction never fails, and your HQ level doesn't change what can appear.
  • The secretary ship doesn't matter — except for the foreign ships marked in the table, which only appear with the listed secretary.
  • Rare destroyers (Shimakaze, Yukikaze, Z1, Z3) and rare light cruisers (Ooi, Kinu, Abukuma) never come out of the 30/30/30/30 recipe.
  • Per the developers, a large-gun ship needs a minimum amount of steel and a balance that avoids the carrier table (bauxite matters most there); carriers need extra bauxite and fuel on top of enough steel.
  • An Instant Construction (flamethrower) skips the timer. Large Ship Construction is a separate system; the ships only available from it are listed in the last column above.
