Conclusion
Akashi (明石) is the repair ship that unlocks Akashi's Arsenal (equipment improvement) and anchorage repair. For most players the realistic routes are 1-5 boss S-rank drops (once your HQ level is high enough) or 2-5 boss A/S-rank drops if you don't own her yet.
She also appears as a selectable reward in some quests and events, so check event rewards before grinding.

What Akashi Does
- Akashi's Arsenal: as 1st-fleet flagship she opens equipment improvement. See Equipment Improvement.
- Anchorage repair (泊地修理): as flagship of any fleet, she slowly repairs ships at minor damage or less in that fleet once 20 minutes have passed since you last changed it. It doesn't work on moderate or heavy damage.
- How many ships she covers is her base count plus the Ship Repair Facilities (艦艇修理施設) she carries: 3 with her starting gear, up to all 6 as Akashi Kai with 4 facilities.
- She's weak in combat and slow to repair (the same repair-time multiplier as battleships and carriers), so keep her out of sorties.
After You Get Her
- 1Lock her right away so she can't be scrapped or fed by accident. See Dock Full?
- 2Clear Prepare the Improvement Arsenal (改修工廠を準備せよ！) for 5 screws.
- 3Level her to 35 for Akashi Kai (1,500 steel): better improvement rates and one more repair facility slot. Anchorage repair gives her no EXP, so the wiki suggests leveling her in exercises or the training-type expeditions.
- 4Do one improvement a day for the daily quest.
FAQ
I've cleared 1-5 many times and never got her.
The drop only comes from a boss fleet that appears at higher HQ levels (the wiki lists 35 on one page and 40 on another), and needs an S rank. Below that, she can't drop there.
Can I get a second Akashi?
Yes — 1-5 has dropped second copies since October 2024, and 3-5 and 6-2 also drop her. 2-5 only drops her if you have none.
Is Large Ship Construction worth it for Akashi?
It's possible since May 2025, but LSC is expensive and random. Map drops cost far less for most players.
Does anchorage repair work outside the 1st fleet?
Yes, it works in any fleet with Akashi as flagship — but all fleets share one repair timer.
