| Same rank, if the ship is… | EXP per battle | Sorties |

How it's calculated
EXP per battle = base EXP × rank multiplier × 1.5 if flagship × 2 if MVP. An E rank has no MVP. The best case, a flagship MVP with an S rank, earns 3.6× base EXP.
Ships stop at Lv99 until you use a Marriage ring (ケッコンカッコカリ). The ring itself takes the ship to Lv100 with no extra EXP, and married ships can then keep levelling to the current cap of Lv188. This calculator doesn't include the training cruiser (CT) bonus, and in-game rounding can shift the totals by a few points.
Leveling Milestones
How the EXP curve behaves, so you can tell whether a goal is a few sorties away or a few weeks.
- 1Up to level 50, each level costs a flat level × 100 EXP (level 10 → 11 needs 1,000). After that the cost per level rises.
- 2The curve gets steep late: level 35 is the halfway point to 50, level 52 is halfway to 70, and level 88 is halfway to 99. Going from 98 to 99 takes about as much EXP as going from 1 to 55.
- 3Most first remodels (改, Kai) come early: many destroyers and light cruisers remodel at level 20, many heavy cruisers and light carriers at 25, and many standard carriers at 30. Pick the ship in the calculator above to fill in its exact remodel level.
- 4At level 99 a ship stops gaining EXP until you marry it (ケッコンカッコカリ, Kekkon Kakko Kari). Any EXP earned at 99 before marriage is wasted, so swap capped ships out of leveling fleets.
EXP From Expeditions
Expeditions also give ships EXP — a slow but free way to level ships you aren't sortieing.
- Each expedition gives one of two EXP amounts at random (roughly half and half). A great success doubles it, and the flagship gets another ×1.5.
- A failed expedition gives the same EXP as a success, but recalling a fleet early gives none.
