Quest Not Completing? Common Reasons

You did what the quest asked and nothing happened. Here are the eight usual reasons — in the order worth checking — and how to fix each one.

01

Conclusion

Nine times out of ten it's one of three things: the quest wasn't accepted yet, the win rank was too low, or the fleet doesn't exactly match what the quest names.

Reading the quest list on the Japanese wiki, the less obvious causes are the “each map counts as one unit” progress rule, ships remodeled while already in the fleet, and the 5:00 reset. All eight causes are below, in the order worth checking.

Eight Reasons a Quest Won't Complete

CheckWhat's going on
You did it before accepting the questProgress only counts while a quest is accepted. The wiki has an example where sinking a carrier before accepting the carrier quest shows progress on a different quest, but never completes the one you wanted — you have to accept it first and do it again.
You accepted a different quest with a similar nameMany quests share almost the same title. Check the quest ID and description, not just the name.
The win rank wasn't high enoughSortie quests often need an A or S rank at the boss. A B-rank win usually doesn't count.
The flagship or fleet doesn't matchQuests that name a flagship (旗艦, Kikan) or a set of ships check the fleet exactly. Some also need a specific number of a ship type in addition to the flagship.
Each map needs its full count firstQuests like “2 S-rank wins on each of three maps” only move to 50% / 80% when a whole map's count is done. One win on each map shows no progress at all.
You remodeled a ship that was already in the fleetOrganization quests can miss a ship that was remodeled while already organized. Re-order the fleet or re-accept the quest to make it check again.
You didn't press “complete” before the resetDaily quests run from 5:00 to 5:00 (Japan time). If a quest is finished but you don't claim it before the reset, you may have to do it again.
A resource or item requirement isn't metQuests that consume resources or items check that you own enough. Players have reported the 80% marker disappearing while they were short, and coming back once they had enough.

How to Read Quest Progress

  • The quest list (任務, Ninmu) shows progress as 50% and 80% markers, then a completed state you have to claim.
  • The marker steps aren't always evenly spaced. For a quest that needs 7 wins, the wiki lists 50% at 4 wins and 80% at 6.
  • For “do X on each of several maps” quests, the markers move per completed map, not per win.
  • Organization (編成, Hensei) quests complete the moment the fleet matches — no sortie needed. If one doesn't, re-sort the fleet to make the game re-check.

A Checklist Before You Start a Quest

  1. 1Open Quests and accept the exact quest (check the ID). Confirm it shows as in progress.
  2. 2Read every condition: flagship, required ships, number of a ship type, map, and the win rank.
  3. 3If the quest consumes resources or items, make sure you already own enough.
  4. 4For equipment-conversion quests, unlock (remove the lock from) the equipment it will consume, and don't swap the flagship or its gear until the quest is done.
  5. 5Claim the reward as soon as it's complete — before the 5:00 reset.

FAQ

When do daily quests reset?

Daily quests run from 5:00 to 5:00 Japan time (JST). Weekly, monthly and quarterly quests have their own reset cycles.

Do B-rank wins count?

For most sortie quests, no — the wiki notes most need an A or S rank. Read the condition; a few quests are reported to count B in some cases, but don't rely on it.

I organized the right ships but the quest didn't complete.

Make sure the quest was accepted before you organized, then re-order the fleet (swap two ships and swap back) so the game re-checks. If a ship was remodeled while in the fleet, this usually fixes it.

Can doing one task count for two quests?

Yes, if both are accepted and both conditions are met. Accept everything relevant before you start.
