Marriage (Kekkon Kakko Kari) Explained

At level 99 a ship can be “married” to break the level cap. Here's what you need, how to do it, what actually changes, and how to choose.

01

Conclusion

Marriage (ケッコンカッコカリ, Kekkon Kakko Kari — literally “marriage (provisional)”) is what you do with a ship at level 99, the normal level cap. It lifts her to level 100 and lets her keep growing, with more HP, more luck and cheaper resupply.

Going by the wiki's numbers, the practical value is survivability: higher HP plus evasion that keeps climbing with level. The first ring comes free from a quest chain; extra rings are a paid item.

An analysis-based guide: this guide is based on our analysis of the Kekkon Kakko Kari page on the Japanese KanColle wiki. It describes what the data shows and is not a guarantee of results.

What You Need

  • A ship at level 99.
  • The Papers and Ring (書類一式&指輪) item. One set comes from the Wedding Preparations (式の準備!) quest chain, which expects a fairly strong fleet and ships around level 90–99. More sets can be bought in the item shop.
  • She can be in any fleet and any position — the official note suggests flagship, but it isn't required.
03

How to Do It

  1. 1Open Refit (改装) and select the level-99 ship.
  2. 2Hover over the faintly glowing Lv99. An option to sign the papers appears — it's easy to miss.
  3. 3Confirm. A short cutscene plays, and she becomes level 100 with a ring on her banner.
  4. 4Her name turns pink in Organize, and as secretary, cherry petals fall in the home port.

What Changes

WhatChange
Level99 → 100, and the ship can keep leveling far past 100. Lv100→101 needs only 10,000 EXP, and 101→102 just 1,000.
HPMax HP rises by about +3 to +9 depending on the ship (some battleships are exceptions).
Luck+3 to +6. Luck already raised by modernization is kept, but each ship has a luck cap.
Fuel and ammo useResupply costs drop to 85%, rounded down — the saving is biggest on expensive ships.
Growing statsASW, LoS and evasion keep rising with level; by the high levels, evasion is the standout gain.
Not changedFirepower, torpedo, AA and armor caps; modernization; equipment; fuel, ammo and morale.
Small catches: repair costs don't go down, and higher max HP plus higher level make repairs take longer. Bauxite for lost planes isn't reduced either.

Who to Pick

There's no wrong answer — plenty of players simply pick a favorite. If you want to think about it practically, the wiki's notes point to:

  • Ships you sortie all the time. The extra HP and evasion pay off on every map.
  • Expensive ships you farm with. The 85% resupply saving is a ratio, so battleships and carriers save the most.
  • Destroyers and light cruisers that need ASW for opening anti-submarine attacks.
  • If you're doing luck modernization, plan around the +3–6 marriage luck so you don't waste it against the cap.

FAQ

Can I remodel after marriage?

Yes. The marriage carries over. Only the encyclopedia ring icon and cutscene stay on the form you married.

Can I marry more than one ship?

Yes, with more Papers and Ring items. Whether you do is up to you.

Does marriage reset modernization or equipment?

No. Unlike a remodel, nothing is reset. Damage is repaired, but fuel and ammo aren't refilled.

How high can a married ship go?

Well past 100. The cap has been raised over time, so check the current limit in-game or on the EXP calculator page.
